2 Year Doctor Visit and BIG Scare!

This past Monday we took Caden for his 24 month check-up.  The visit went really well and he is on track for his height and weight.  The doctor said he is very advanced verbally for his age.  They did an assessment and he scored really high.  The doctor told us we could look into a gifted program if we wanted to.  For now I think we are going to just keep doing what we're doing and let him enjoy his childhood. I think probably one of the biggest reasons he has such a large vocabulary is because we read to him everyday. We are also regularly teaching him things.  We try to make learning fun.

Here are his measurements:

Weight: 13 kg (28.66 lbs) - 65% percentile
Height: 88 cm (34.65 in.) - 54% percentile

This past weekend Collin and I were on our top floor organizing our office/play room.  Caden went downstairs, not a big deal, we thought, since he goes downstairs all the time to play in his room or the living room.  After a few minutes of not hearing him Collin went downstairs to check on him.  The front door was wide open - he had left!  Collin yelled for me to come downstairs and we both went running outside yelling for him.  A lady walking down the street told us that a little boy just walked in the park by himself.  We ran down to the park hoping the little boy was Caden.  We thank God that it was.  There he was, barefoot, and standing in the sand.  I about had a heart attack!  I'm just so thankful nothing horrible happened to him.  We were also quite impressed that he found his way to the park by himself.  We now lock our front door with a key and remind him that he is not allowed to go outside without Mommy or Daddy.

We love you, Caden!!  You are such a sweet, smart, handsome, loving, and brave boy.
