Yesterday was Columbus Day. I am so thankful to Columbus and his and others who first discovered America. After living abroad for 3.5 years I have a great appreciate for America. With that being said, yesterday we joined some friends and went to an apple orchard. We went to Henrietta Creek Orchard which is about an hour away. This was Caden's first time to pick apples. The owners were very friendly and loved teaching the kids (and adults) what life was like on a farm 100 years ago. Caden and I were glad that Columbus Day is a holiday for Collin so he was able to join us. We haven't done many day trips since returning to the States.
One lady taught the kids how cotton is grown and then made into thread and then cloth to make clothing. Another lady showed us how they collect honey from bees. Then we divided up with the group we came with and toured the farm. We saw chickens, all kinds of vegetables, and lots of apple trees. Caden had a great time and enjoys being outside and with other kids. Thanks, Loni, for inviting us to join you guys!

Looks like fun! I emailed them (Elissa and I wanted to take the kids), but they said they are only open for field trips. Guess not!
How sad, Melissa! A friend invited me. I know she had to make a reservation.
