Grace is 21 Months Old! New Food Allergy!

Family pictures from this past Sunday
Dear Grace,

I wanted to write you and share with how you have grown and changed over these past few months. To begin with, I want to brag on you and tell you what a wonderful sister you are! You are such a blessing to our family. You make a wonderful little sister and a fantastic big sister. You are very sweet and helpful. You are kind and very smart as well.

A few new things you started doing. Right before Jackson was born you started wanted to use the potty. You are doing a great job! We have not taken your diapers completely away yet but plan on it soon. We could probably potty train you in a day or two but have been so busy. You voluntarily tell us you need to go and we'll help you with your pants. You're able to use a public potty as well. We are so proud of you!

You are an excellent communicator, especially for someone who isn't even two yet! You talk in complete sentences, you use pronouns correctly, and describe your day. One day you were playing at the church playground and a little girl pushed you. Daddy was with you and you told me later, "Mommy, Emmy pushed me on the playground." I was amazed at how well you told me about it.

You love singing in church. You like praying too. You'll sometimes say our family prayer before dinner. You also pray before bed and are great at thanking God for everyone in your family.

You are such a joy and delight! We are proud of how you are growing and learning. You love watching me cook and want to help. You like coloring and do a great job as well. You can get your shoes on by yourself and are a big help with getting your clothes on and off.

The one thing that you struggle with is wanting to go to sleep. Both for naps and at night. Yesterday, for example, we took an hour hike, you played on the playground, we went out for lunch, and you wouldn't go down for a nap. You later spent most of the day outside in the backyard. Last night you fought going to bed as well. You also still wake up 1-3 times at night. Sometimes you have a hard time. I know with time, you'll sleep through the night.

Some of your favorite things to do are dance to music, play with baby dolls, play with stuffed animals, you especially are liking Caden's Curious George doll, play with Little People, play-doh, color, and play with Legos Duplo. You also still LOVE books and since we read to you so often, we think it's what is really giving you such a head start on your extensive vocabulary. We read to Caden a lot when he was younger too and still do. We read to Jackson as well.

We learned last Saturday that you are allergic to cashews. Daddy gave you a quarter of one in the line at Central Market. In the car about 5-10 minutes you started having trouble breathing and ended up throwing up. When we got home we realized you broke out in hives. Thankfully they hives went down and I called the on-call doctor and since you were acting normal and a few hours had passed with no temperature we didn't need to take you to the ER. But it was very scary! We love you so much and hate to see anything bad happen. We know you tested positive for being allergic to peanuts and eggs as well. We had no idea about cashews.

You love your family and especially love your brothers and they love you. You love holding Jackson and playing with Caden. You love being outside and swinging, sliding down the slide, and jumping on the trampoline.

We love you, Grace!

Love,
