Padre Island

Right after the 4th of July, we took off to Corpus Christi to spend three nights near the beach. We stayed at the Embassy Suites in Corpus, which is a great hotel chain for families. It's getting harder to find hotel rooms that can accommodate a family of 5. Their breakfast and evening reception is really nice. When we went a few years ago, we stayed at the Omni, which is right across from the beach. Sadly, there wasn't any rooms available for a family of 5.

The kids loved the beach! We spent each morning driving to Padre Island, where we parked right on the beach and had a private area to play. The kids loved playing in the sand and waves. This was Jackson's first time to dip his feet in the ocean. He loved it. We stayed until lunch. Then grabbed lunch and headed back to the hotel to swim at the hotel's indoor saltwater pool. We'd swim another few hours, then all shower and get ready for dinner. We had a great time. We were able to meet up with our college friend, Elizabeth, and her husband. As well as another college friend, Cathy, and her boys. Her husband had to work. We love being able to stop and see friends when we can.

Sadly, Caden caught something while we were gone and it turned into pneumonia. He's doing fine, just has had very high fevers, a cough, and has been more tired than normal. He seems to be on the mend but still pretty tired. No fever in 5 days, so that's been good.

This guy loves his bacon!

The beach wasn't crowded at all! It was lovely!
